City of Edmonton finds fifth case of Dutch elm disease in Killarney

The city said in a news release that the infected elm tree sits on private property in the Killarney neighbourhood. It was first tested in late September, with negative results. However, over the summer, the tree began to show symptoms of DED, like brown staining under the bark. A new sample was taken, and the fungal pathogen that causes DED was found on Oct 24. Read More
